"Love is just the beginning...of the end."
Mason Starling is a champion fencer for Gosforth Academy, but she's never had to fight for her life. Until now. When a ferocious storm rips through Manhattan and unleashes terrifying creatures onto Gosforth's campus, Mason barely escapes alive. Without the help from the mysterious stranger who appeared in the midst of the storm, she might not have made it at all. But now, in the aftermath, Mason's life begins to spin dramatically, mystically out of control, and the only one who seems able to help her is the stranger who can remember nothing but his name: Fennrys Wolf.
As Mason and Fenn uncover more about Fenn's past and the strange events that surround them, they realize that Mason's family-and its dark allegiance to the ancient Norse Gods-is at the center of everything. A predetermined fate seems to be closing in on Mason, but is it possible to change one's destiny?

I LOVE Norse mythology! I can't wait to get at this one in the fall! How fun! It's always Greek or Egyptian and rarely any other mythological stories. YAY!

It's the end of the world. Six students have taken cover in Cortege High but shelter is little comfort when the dead outside won't stop pounding on the doors. One bite is all it takes to kill a person and bring them back as a monstrous version of their former self. To Sloane Price, that doesn't sound so bad. Six months ago, her world collapsed and since then, she's failed to find a reason to keep going. Now seems like the perfect time to give up. As Sloane eagerly waits for the barricades to fall, she's forced to witness the apocalypse through the eyes of five people who actually want to live. But as the days crawl by, the motivations for survival change in startling ways and soon the group's fate is determined less and less by what's happening outside and more and more by the unpredictable and violent bids for life-and death-inside. When everything is gone, what do you hold on to? (Summary from Goodreads)

Holy cheese! This sounds scary, creepy and fascinating all at the same time. It seems like the author is delving into that question of what each person is willing to do and capable of doing in order to survive; does the notion of "good" or "bad" go out the window?
