  Middle Ground
(Awaken, Book 2)

Release Date: November 20, 2012

In this provocative cautionary tale for teens the sequel to Awaken, seveteen-year-old Maddie's rebellion against the digital-only life grows dangerous. Maddie is in Los Angeles, trying to stay out of trouble. But one night, a seemingly small act of defiance lands her in the place she fears the most: a detention center. Here, patients are reprogrammed to accept a digital existence. Maddie is now fighting for her mind, her soul, and her very life. Once again, Katie Kacvinsky paints a disturbing picture of our increasingly technology-based society. (Summary from Goodreads)

Okay, this sounds like a really cool dystopian: a future world where we live a "digital-life" but it's to the extreme! I'm so glad I read about this second book in the series. Now, I'm adding Awaken AND Middle Ground to my TBR list!

(Legacy of Tril, Book 2)
Author: Heather Brewer
Release Date: August 20, 2013
Published by: DIAL

Sometimes you have to break the rules to discover the truth.
Kaya has learned that she is Soulbound to Darius, the Barron she secretly trained with a Shadow Academy. But he's been sent away, leaving Kaya with questions about how he could be Soulbound to her and another Healer. Determined to find answers and prove herself worthy of fighting in the war against King Darrek and the Graplars, Kaya sneaks away, encountering a mysterious Barron named Gage in her travels. But Darius has shocking information about Gage--information that changes everything Kaya thought she knew about what it means to be Bound. (Summary from Goodreads)

I met Heather recently and listened to her talk about growing up and the hideous bullying and general treatment she endured at school everyday. She was such an great speaker and had such a powerful story about believing in people. About how much it can mean to a person to just believe in them. I bought the 1st book in this series and had it signed after hearing her talk about her dislike of Twilight and its portrayal of women, the treatment of women and their options in life...about how she wanted to create kick-butt female characters as role models instead. I can't wait to read it and the cover on this one is BRILLIANT!

What are you waiting on this week?
