Beautifully constructed prose about life and loss. The death of Amelia Anne is only a framework that allows the main character, Becca, to explore her feelings about leaving her small hometown for college and a different life.
Throughout the novel, passages touched my heart as Becca thinks through what it means to leave everything and everyone behind...especially those who plan to never leave her hometown, the ones she sees as stuck until she starts picturing herself never leaving.
A disturbing yet poignant picture of a young woman on the cusp of growing up and exploring life beyond that which she has always know. I highly recommend it.
