Twixt Guided Tour: Stop #1 Monica's Tour of The Carousel...

Welcome to the 1st stop on The Guided Twixt Tour! Today Monica is up giving us our very own tour of one of Glendale's up-and-coming indoor/outdoor scenes, the Carousel; brace yourselves and let's step up so she sees we're here. That’s her over there with the razor-cut bob and very dark skin, wearing the brightly colored top...

Hey! Are you part of the tour? What? Speak up--the DJ's wild tonight! Isn't it great? The place is seriously slamming. Last fling of summer and all that. You'd think Joy wouldn't miss this, but she's been busy doing whatever--and when I say "whatever" I mean "Ink"--so you've got me for this part of the ride. I'm Monica. What's your name? What? WHAT? You know what, nevermind. Just follow me. We're heading out on the floor. Your feet'll know what to do.

Hold up! Wait for it!--the floor rotates. Jump when you see a space. Grab my hand and...now! Just follow the bouncing mob this-a-way. You know, this is where it started. Right here at the Carousel.

Look up: see that thing between the mirrors? Right there. That's the Golden Ring. The Carousel Club used to be a real carousel, six rows across and hand-painted everything. There are pictures in the town's history museum and one or two of the original merry-go-round critters. There weren't many horses like a normal carousel, but some artist back then sure had a sense of humor! Like Alice in Wonderland met Oz in a blender. Whup--this is my favorite song!

Whew! Where was I? Right. So, anyway, this is where Joy and I were, dancing on a Thursday--I know it was Thursday 'cuz those are the Under 18 nights, which aren't half bad. There was this new guy spinning the tables and I'm busy making eyes at this massive blond hottie in tight pans and Joy is evidently making trouble because the next thing I know, she's on this very floor screaming that someone cut her in the eye. Honestly, I never saw a thing but when your friend freaks out, things get freaky fast. So I go all Momma Bear and get us out of there and into the E.R. stat. Her dad was ripped-pissed, but everything was okay, just a scratch. Next thing I know she's acting crazy, breaking windows, skipping out after school and then head over heels for Mr. Mystery Boy. We're back in sync as bffs, but I swear on everything holy, Joy hasn't been the same since that Thursday night.

Don't get me wrong, she can still dance, she can still trick--those gymnastic moves are some serious riot--but there's something...off...going on, even worse than when her mom took off and her brother left for college. I know she's still me bestie, but some days I wonder whether to hug her or shake her, you know? She's been flirting with being stupid and our sisterly motto is: No Stupid. It is my sisterly duty to smack some sense into her if she needs it, but, seeing as how things have worked out for the best, I can forgive her a little flip-out now and then. That's what friends are for!

Well, I hope this has been fun, but I spy with my little eye my number one interest over by the DJ booth in those tight-tight jeans! That's my cue. Stick around for the next set--the Carousel's just getting interesting. You never know who you might meet, am I right?

Catch you on the floor!

Thanks girl! It was great meeting you!

As she was showing us around, did you catch the code word? Make sure to enter it to win the grand prize giveaway. Well I don't know about you guys, but I think I'll stick around to enjoy this new DJ! Have a good one and enjoy!

Instead, the wound accidentally marks her as property of Indelible Ink, and this dangerous mistake thrusts Joy into an incomprehensible world - a world of monsters at the window, glowing girls on the doorstep, and a life that will never be the same.

Now, Joy must pretend to be Ink's chosen one - his helper, his love, his something for the foreseeable future...and failure to be convincing means a painful death for them both. Swept into a world of monsters, illusion, immortal honor and revenge, Joy discovers that sometimes, there are no mistakes.

Some things lie beneath the surface.

With the power to change everything.

Joy Malone wants it all - power, freedom, and the boyfriend who loves her. Yet when an unstoppable assassin is hired to kill her. Joy learns that being the girl with the Sight comes with a price that might be too high to pay. Love will be tested, lives will be threatened, and everyone Joy knows and cares about will be affected by her decision to stand by Ink or to leave the Twixt forever.

Her choice is balanced on a scalpel's edge and the consequences will be more life-altering than anyone can guess.

Dawn Metcalf has always lived on the edge between reality and magic, which explains her current profession and love of fantasy books and games. Her passions include karate, fairy tales, Victoriana and dark chocolate, often combining one or more of them in unexpected ways. Currently, she lives with her husband and family in northern Connecticut. If they had a sign, it would be: Confounding the Neighbor Children Since 1999. Dawn's current Young Adult series with Harlequin Teen, The Twixt, has four titles: Indelible (July 2013), Invisible (September 2014), Inviolate (June 2015), and Invincible (May 2016). She also has a Young Adult standalone, Luminous (June 2011 from Dutton Juvenile).
