It's Amanda's 11th birthday and she is super excited -- after all, 11 is so different from 10. But from the start, everything goes wrong. The worst part of it all is that she and her best friend, Leo, with whom she's shared every birthday, are on the outs and this will be the first birthday they haven't shared together. When Amanda turns in for the night, glad to have her birthday behind her, she wakes up happy for a new day. Or is it? Her birthday seems to be repeating itself. What is going on!? And how can she fix it? Only time, friendship, and a little luck will tell...(Summary from Goodreads)

This sounds cute - a little Groundhog's Day twist. I'll grab it, read it, and share the fun with my niece.

(The WitchlandsBook 1)
Author: Susan Dennard
Release Date: January 5, 2015
Published by: Tor Teen

On a continent rule by three empires, some are born with a "witchery", a magical skill that sets them apart from others.

In the Witchlands, there are almost as many types of magic as there are ways to get into trouble--as two desperate young women know all too well.

Safiya is a Truthwitch, able to discern truth from lie. It's a powerful magic that many would kill to have on their side, especially amongst the nobility to which Safi was born. So Safi must keep her gift hidden, lest she be used as a pawn in the struggle between empires.

Iseult, a Threadwitch, can see the invisible ties that bind and entangle the lives around her--but she cannot see the bonds that touch her own heart. Her unlikely friendship with Safi has taken her from life as an outcast into one of reckless adventure, where she is a cool, wary balance to Safi's hotheaded impulsiveness.

Safi and Iseult just want to be free to live their own lives, but war is coming to the Witchlands. With the help of the cunning Prince Merik (a Windwitch and ship's captain) and the hindrance of a Bloodwitch bent on revenge, the friends must fight emperors, princes, and mercenaries alike, who will stop at nothing to get their hands on a Truthwitch. (Summary from Goodreads)

THIS. SOUNDS. AMAZING!!! Not only does the magic and powers appeal to me but the friendship and possible "Scooby Gang" characters leaves me desperate to get my hands on this one!! Plus, Susan's writing is INCREDIBLE! Just WOW!

What are you waiting on this week?
